Supplies:
- 1 cup salt
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup water
- Bowl
- Spoon
- Shamrock cookie cutter
- Green paint
- Paintbrush
- Green yarn
- Scissors
Directions:
1. Mix the ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the flour, water and salt.
2. Make the dough
Mix the ingredients together until a thick dough forms.
3. Cut out the shamrocks
Flatten the dough out to approximately 1/4 inch thickness. Use the shamrock cookie cutter to cut out the shamrock shapes. The dough should make 12 shamrocks.
4. Make a hole
Use a drinking straw to make a hole in the top of each shamrock.
5. Bake the shamrocks
Place the salt dough shamrocks on a cookie sheet and bake them in the oven at 200 degrees F for approximately 1 hour.
6. Paint the shamrocks
After the shamrocks have cooled, paint the front, back and sides with green paint.
7. Make the necklace
Cut a piece of yarn that is 18 inches long. Fold it in half and loop it through the hole in the shamrock to make a necklace. Tie the loose ends of the yarn in a knot and your shamrock necklace is ready to wear.
