My daughter's hair is adorable. It is super long, almost waist length, and just as curly as can be. When she begs me to flat iron it and I spend an hour doing so, it just goes back to its normal curly state almost as soon as we are done. She has gotten teased about her hair, and when it tangles, it's a huge, heartbreaking dilemma, but to be honest, I would love to have hair like hers. Which is why it breaks my heart when she says she hates it. And also why this new Dove video will be the first thing I show her when she gets home from school today.
It's a quandary as old as time: Girls with straight hair want curly hair, and girls with curly hair want straight hair. I only wish that all girls would realize they are beautiful no matter what texture their hair is. Thank you, Dove, for celebrating that.
