Supplies:
- Empty toilet paper rolls
- Construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Marker
- Feathers
Directions:
1. Make a face
To make the Indian, cut out a skin-toned strip of paper and glue it around the paper tube where the face should go.
2. Create hair
Cut a strip of brown paper, then cut vertical slits in the paper to create the hair.
3. Add hair and headband
Glue the hair around the top of the paper tube, leaving a space open in the front for the face. Cut a large strip and a narrow strip from colored construction paper. Glue the large strip around the bottom of the tube to make the Indian's dress, then glue the narrow strip around the top of the tube to make a headband.
4. Add face and feather
Use a marker to draw a face, then glue a feather to the inside of the top of the tube.
5. Construct male Pilgrim variation
To make the male Pilgrim, cut out a skin-toned strip of paper and glue it to the tube like in step 1. Cut out a large black strip of paper and glue it to the bottom of the tube to make the Pilgrim's clothes. Create a white collar by cutting out a notch in a white strip of paper and gluing it below the face. Use a marker to draw on a face.
6. Create Pilgrim hat
Create a hat by cutting out a circle from black construction paper. Next, cut out a rectangle from the black construction paper, and glue the long sides together to form a tube. Glue the tube to the top of the paper circle, then add a white band and gold buckle to the hat.
7. Construct female Pilgrim variation
To make the female Pilgrim, follow the steps in step 5, then cut out a white strip of paper with a scalloped bottom edge. Glue this strip to the center of the black strip to form an apron. Add hair around the top of the paper tube. Make a bonnet by gluing a half-circle of white paper above the Pilgrim's face, then glue a white band around the top of the paper tube.
