There's a new book coming out from Downtown Bookworks on Oct. 21 that wants to send your daughter a totally different message than the one we saw emblazoned on that stupid Batman shirt, and this message is that she can do anything she sets her mind to.
The book is entitled DC Super Heroes: My First Book of Girl Power and showcases the strength, intelligence, kindness and bravery of the women in the DC universe. The book was created to encourage parents to read to their little ones and to share these positive, empowering qualities with their daughters and sons from an early age. According to the press release, "Wonder Woman uses her incredible ability to find the truth to help people. Batgirl uses her sharp mind to protect Gotham City. And Black Canary uses her powerful voice to keep others safe."
Everyone knows that girls are just as capable of being brave and heroic as boys, and I love that this book will be released just in time for the holiday season for kids to get as gifts. As the mom of a young daughter who loves superheroes, I'm so happy this book exists. I want to raise my daughter to believe she is capable of doing anything she wants, and having books that reinforce this message make my job as a parent easier. You can pre-order this awesome book here.
