Let’s start with the most obvious baby name choice: Emmy. This feminine girl name is cute, easy to spell and pronounce, yet not so popular that your daughter will get lost in a crowd.

Game of Thrones baby names

Ready to name your dragon baby? People are not only going crazy over the HBO hit show Game of Thrones, but they are naming their kids after the characters, as well. In fact, the Social Security Administration showed that 146 baby girls were named Khaleesi (the name of Emilia Clark’s character's royal title) in 2012. The name Arya was even dubbed one of the fastest growing baby girl names last year. For girls, consider the following:

For boys, consider the following:

Cool old-fashioned names from Mad Men and Downton Abby

Although set in different decades (Mad Men is in the 1960s and Downton Abby in the early 1900s), both of these Emmy -series are chock-full of old-fashioned baby names. As the saying goes, what’s old is new again, and these retro names have never been more popular.

The Mad Men girl names we are totally crushing on are Peggy, Betty, Joan, Trudy and Sally. For the little Don Drapers-in-training, consider the boy names Bertram, Henry, Stan or Lane.

Downton Abbey has so many cool, vintage names it is hard to narrow down our favorites, especially for girls. For the boys, the names are more traditional, such as Jack, Robert and John. For girls, some of the stand-out names include:

Baby names from Orange Is the New Black

Orange Is the New Black is one of the hottest new shows — and this Emmy-nominated series also has some cool names to along with it, even if these names are straight out of Litchfield Penitentiary.

Tough and edgy names from The Walking Dead and True Blood

We have rounded up some dragon-inspired baby names and old -names, but if you want a more edgy name, perhaps the monikers from Emmy-nominated shows The Walking Dead and True Blood are more up your alley?

For boys, consider the name Daryl (or the name of the actor that plays him, Norman Reedus), as well as the main character Rick, of course. Hershel and Gareth are other names that stand out. For girls, consider the name Sasha or, my favorite, Michonne.

If you are looking for a truly unique baby girl name, you can consider Anna Paquin’s True Blood character of Sookie. Other girl names from the vampire-laden series include Tara, Arlene and Ginger. For the boys, the show features the more All-American names of Bill, Jason and Eric; and some of the more unique names include Hoyt, Alcide and Lafayette.

Let’s not forget these notable names:
