DIY school project storage box

Supplies:

School project storage box | Sheknows.com - supplies

  • Cardboard storage box, 4 to 5 inches deep
  • 40 to 50 sheets of white 8 x 10-inch card stock
  • Tape
  • Double-sided tape or glue stick
  • Kids' art

Directions:

Step 1: Accordion fold card stock

Lay 2 sheets of card stock beside each other and secure with a 2-inch piece of tape at the top and another at the bottom, joining the 2 pieces of card stock. Be sure to leave a tiny bit of space between the 2 sheets to allow for easy accordion folds.

Flip the 2 pieces over and repeat the tape process on the back side. Continue this process until you've worked your way through your card stock.

Step 2: Add artwork

Using double-sided tape or a glue stick, attach your child's artwork to the card stock beginning with the second-to-last page, leaving the back of the last page blank.

Step 3: Affix card stock inside the box

Apply double-sided tape or the glue stick to the 4 edges of the bottom piece of card stock and adhere it firmly to the bottom inside of the box, being sure that you center the accordion stack in the box. Add your child's art throughout the year, building the collection until the box is full and adding additional pages if necessary.

Step 4: Decorate

Optional step: Ask your child to decorate the box and make it his own. Think stickers, markers and glitter. I skipped this step because I plan to store our box on a bookshelf and plan to add boxes each year, so I wanted to keep them simple and matching.

At the close of the school year, you'll have a box of the best of the best of your child's art, ready to be tucked away on the shelf for years to come. What's better than a curated collection that celebrates the artist your child was each year?
