Supplies:
- Glue
- Scissors
- Straws
- Card stock
- Paints and markers
- Cardboard
- String
- Wooden beads
Directions:
Cut out the shape
Cut out a shape from the card stock. I chose to make my climber a butterfly, but you can cut out whatever shape your child desires.
Decorate
Use paints, markers and other embellishments to decorate the card stock.
Cardboard backing
Cut out a rectangle of cardboard that is small enough to fit on the back of your card stock shape. Cut 2 straws down to size and glue them to the cardboard, as shown.
Glue on the cardboard
Glue the piece of cardboard to the back of the card stock, with the straws pointing up and down.
Cut and tie string
Cut a long piece of string, then fold it in half. Slide the folded end through a wooden bead, then tie knots at the top and the bottom of the bead to hold it in place.
Thread the string
Slide the loose ends of the string through the straws.
Finish the string
Slide a bead on to each end of the string and tie a knot at the bottom to keep the bead from sliding off.
Enjoy!
Hang the string climber toy on the wall. Have your child alternate pulling each string to make the toy "climb" up the strings.
