Directions:
Spray with acrylic
First, spray your terra-cotta pot with a coat of clear acrylic spray both inside and out. This will help reduce the likelihood of moisture seeping through the pot to ruin your Earth Day craft when you water your plant. Allow to dry.
Decorate
Next, help your youngster paint a silly face on the outside of the potted plant container with the acrylic paint and the paintbrush and allow it to dry thoroughly. Don't be afraid to let them add their own embellishments, like google eyes, pom-poms and ribbon. Then, give the outside of your Earth Day craft 2 coats of clear acrylic spray to protect your kiddo's art, allowing it to dry between coats.

Add a plant
Finally, place your houseplant in your painted terra-cotta pot and place on a sunny sill or on your porch for an Earth Day craft that will bring your family smiles all year long!
Tip:
You can make this Earth Day plant craft for kids using a plastic potted plant, skipping the initial clear acrylic spray coat and still finishing with the two top protective clear coats.
