3 DIY Hair clip crafts

Give your daughter's 'do a little holiday flair with these DIY hair clips that you can whip up in mere minutes. Using craft supplies you probably already have at home like ribbon, felt and chenille stem chicks, turn simple alligator clips into adorable Easter hair clips.

Doesn't it seem like every child is obsessed with those fuzzy little chenille chicks that come out each Easter? Well you can put those adorable little hatchlings to good use when you turn the Easter craft staples into a simple hair clip your little girl will spring for.

Supplies:

• 3 small chenille chicks
• Hot glue
• 3/8-inch wide white grosgrain ribbon
• Scissors
• Alligator hair clip

Directions:

1. First, cut a 3-inch piece of white grosgrain ribbon and hot glue it to the alligator hair clip, covering the underside of the top half to the top side of the top half, just folded over the edge where you pinch it open.
2. Next, take 3 small chenille chicks and hot glue them by their sides, one following the other, to the horizontal length of your ribbon-covered alligator hair clip.
3. Once it's dry, those fuzzy little peeps will be ready to parade alongside your daughter's spring 'do.

Nothing says Easter craft more than the Easter Bunny himself, but once you get the hang of this ribbon twisting technique, you can craft up a ton of different DIY hair clips featuring cute spring playthings, from carrots to spring ducklings.

Supplies:

• Alligator hair clip
• Hot glue
• Flame for sealing the ends of the ribbon (optional)
• 2 small self-adhesive jewels for the eyes
• Enough 1/8-inch width ribbon to make a tiny bow
• White, 3/8-inch width grosgrain ribbon in the following sizes:
• A single 3-1/4-inch long ribbon for the head
• A single 2-5/8-inch long ribbon for the face
• 2 pieces of 2-1/4-inch long ribbon for the ears
• Pink, 3/8-inch wide grosgrain ribbon in the following sizes:
• A single 1-3/4-inch long ribbon for the nose
• 2 pieces of 2-1/4-inch long ribbon for the ears

Directions:

1. Cut all of your ribbon lengths, making note of which piece is for the head, face, nose and ears. Although not required, your ribbon bunny will be easier to craft if you slightly melt the ends of each ribbon with a flame; simply hover the end of your ribbon near the flame without touching it. You just need the material to begin to melt — not catch on fire — to keep it from unraveling.
2. Glue the longest piece of your white ribbon in a teardrop shape for the head, adhering the back of the top of the ribbon to the bottom front of the ribbon. Set aside and repeat for the second-longest white ribbon for the face and set aside. Glue the shortest pink ribbon for the nose in the same fashion, making this loop as tight as you can, almost overlapping in a very oval-like shape with almost no space in the loop.
3. Once all 3 loops have cooled, glue the face loop behind the head loop, shifted down slightly to fill the hole. Then, glue the pink nose loop behind the face loop, also filling in the hole. Set aside so you can tackle the ears.
4. Then, stack a 2-1/4-inch length of pink ribbon on top of a 2-1/4-inch length of white ribbon and glue in the same tear-drop shape, giving it an ear-like loop. Just make sure the pink ribbon is showing towards the inside of the bend to simulate really bunny's ears. Repeat with the other two ear pieces and grab your alligator hair clip.
5. Now with the open part of the hair clip facing up, glue your 2 ear ribbon loops towards the end of the clip. It should be positioned about 1/4 inch from the end of the clip, where your kiddo's hair would enter the clip.
6. Next, glue the Easter bunny face at the bottom of the ears — the bottom of the head should hang just over the edge of the pinching part of the clip to secure it but you can add a dab of glue if you feel it isn't secure enough.
7. Then grab your 2 self-adhesive jewels for the eyes and dot them with glue before adhering to the bunny's face. Even though they're supposed to stick on their own, the jewels will stay in place better on the ribbon if you add a bit of glue.
8. Finally, use your 1/8-inch width ribbon and fashion a tiny bow and adhere to the spot where the ears and head meet and your youngster's DIY hairclip is ready for your youngster's visit with the big bunny himself.

Kids seem to beg endlessly to decorate Easter eggs long before the Easter Bunny arrives, so let them get their fix with this Easter craft turned hair clip. Kids can decorate their felt eggs with ribbon, sequins, glitter glue or felt markers for a unique hair clip for spring.

Supplies:

• Craft felt in color of your choice
• Scissors
• 3/8-inch width grosgrain ribbon in spring style of your choice
• 1/8-inch width ribbon in colors of your choice
• Small self-adhesive gems
• Hot glue
• Alligator hair clip

Directions:

1. Cut a small egg shape from felt in the color of your choice. Make sure the egg shape is narrow enough to allow the clip to still show on either side of the egg.
2. Measure 4 lengths of 1/8-inch width ribbon to fit horizontally across your felt egg.
3. Using hot glue, carefully glue your narrow ribbon to the felt egg.
4. Now, take the tiniest self-adhesive gems you can find and give the Easter hair clips some sparkle in any design you or your little one likes.
5. Next, cut a 3-inch length of grosgrain ribbon in a spring pattern of your choice and hot glue it to your alligator hair clip, covering the underside of the top half to the top side of the top half, just folded over the edge where you pinch it open.
6. Finally, glue your decorated Easter egg to the center of your ribbon-covered DIY hair clip and your kiddo is ready for some Easter fun.
